Deuces Wild
One of the largest utility contractors in North America, Team Fishel considers mini-excavators to be its ace in the hole for underground electrical repairs. That’s why Rich Mauldin, Area Manager for Team Fishel in Louisville, Kentucky, runs a pair of John Deere 35D Compact Excavators.

Team Fishel crews dig pits up to six feet deep to fix an electrical problem. “It has a lot of power for such a small machine,” says Mauldin. “We run into really tough soil conditions that have been backfilled with cut rock. You need a good machine to go down five or six feet in that stuff.”
